ANALYSIS & DESIGN OF ADDING ON
This project explores the diagrammatic analysis of existing systems and patterns, as well as the concept of integrating new elements into an established order. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing new patterns and values. Additionally, it highlights the use of metaphors and analogies to enhance design ideas and convey cultural values.
OBJECTIVE
The aim of this project is to craft a thoughtfully designed addition to the iconic "Smith House," a masterpiece by architect Richard Meier from 1965. This new extension will seamlessly integrate innovative systems, patterns, and conceptual ideas that cater to the owners' evolving needs, all while honoring and preserving the architectural brilliance of the original design. By doing so, we can create a harmonious blend of modern functionality and timeless elegance.

NARRATIVE
Mr. Smith dreams of an exercise training room where he can train before their weekend sailing trips. Mrs. Smith envisions a larger space for family gatherings indoors and outdoors, while keeping the children's play area separate. To address these challenges, they have decided to expand their home, to ensure that its functions align better with their lifestyle.
